Proposal for the Restoration of Hamm Creek’s Lost Fork

Goals of the Project

  1. Increase wild salmon fishery of Hamm Creek
  2. Promote community investment and education
  3. Create public viewing opportunities

Objectives

  1. Create an above ground stream channel with a series of ponds and limited piped segments between the headwaters of the Lost Fork and the proposed mouth of Hamm Creek at City Light North.
  2. Direct the headwaters of the Lost Fork (now heading northward under 4th Avenue South in a pipe) into this channel.
  3. Create a generous in-stream and riparian habitat to promote overwintering and by rearing by adult and juvenile Coho and Chinook salmons.
  4. Redirect clean water from the headwaters of the Mid and North forks away from the contaminated environment of 96th Street and into the Lost Fork channel.
