I'M A PAL has frequent volunteer opportunities that involve hands-on projects such as tree planting and clean up.

DUWAMISH STEWARDSHIP PROJECT
Citizens Shoreline Inventory Monitoring

This year People for Puget Sound began a major habitat restoration effort to work with agencies, local businesses, volunteers to restore the salmon habitat on over 20 sites in the Duwamish estuary.

“ I’M A PAL “ has partnered with them in this effort, along with; World Conservation Corps, Student Conservation Association and ECOSS.  The project goal is to start new restoration sites and steward existing sites.

Stewardship is the key to a successful restoration. Stewardship is crucial for wildlife, vegetation and salmon survival.

We need your help!

We need volunteer stewards to monitor our project sites. Volunteer stewards will be responsible for monitoring growth, identifying species.  Commitment time is only four times a year, however, in some cases, maintenance such as watering, would be required when weather dictates.

Training will be provided.

Some sites in need of stewards are: Puget Creek, Turning Basin I, Turning Basin II, Duwamish Waterway Park, North Wind Weir, Point Rediscovery and more.

Please call 206-762-3640 or e-mail us at stream101@aol.com to register.

I'M A PAL is also looking for dedicated volunteers to commit to stewardship of the sites. We will be monitoring water quality, plants etc., periodically. Stewards will be responsible for monitoring growth and health of sites for at least four times a year.

We also need more frequent monitoring, as much as once a week to once a month, depending on the site and need, i.e. watering plants/trees, etc.
